Rhys Ifans has been cast in the Alice in Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass as father to Johnny Depp’s  Mad Hatter. Unfortunately, this movie is still moving forward. A movie that grosses as much as the first one did, no matter how big a steaming pile, will always get another one. This is exactly the type of film Johnny Depp need to avoid like the plague. It’s films like this and the unnecessary Pirates of the Caribbean sequels that have tainted him as an actor to a large amount of the movie-going public. Tim Burton even had the sense to stay far away from this one.

It looks like a pretty good cast, a bit of a Sweeny Todd reunion. In addition to Depp and Ifans, Through the looking glass will also feature Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. The film will be directed by James Bobin (the Muppet Movies, Flight of the Conchords, Da Ali G Show) and is slated to be released on May 27, 2016. Let the countdown begin!
