According to Mike Tyson, Jamie Foxx is in talks to play the troubled boxer in a biopic film.
Of course, my first thought is how that’s supposed to work, considering that Foxx is 46 Years old and Tyson is 48. If you’re making a biopic of Mike Tyson you’d presumably want to show a teenage Mike Tyson, right? So you’d hire an actor to play young ‘Iron’ Mike? Nope. Tyson claims Foxx will play him throughout all stages of his life with the aid of the same CGI techniques employed in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. The former Heavyweight champ stated:
“Me and Jamie Foxx are in discussion, and we gonna do it,” said Tyson, 48. “Within a year to 18 months, we’re going to do the Mike Tyson story and he’s going to portray me, and now they have this new animation; because you know Jamie’s pretty much my age so he can’t portray me but they have this new system.”
Tyson is nothing if not a wordsmith. It sounds crazy right? Because Tyson seems to me to be kind of a lunatic.
Even though that may be the case, Foxx made the following comments this past May on Live With Kelly and Michael:
“I got a chance to hang out with Mike when Mike was at his height,” he said, “and I watched [him] go from his height to where he is now, and I talked to him about doing his story. I think that story would be fantastic … and I had my makeup artist dress me up as Mike Tyson … People were literally coming up asking for autographs. So hopefully, Mike, if you’re listening, let’s make history.”
