Hot on the heels of near universal love of ‘Boyhood’ (Read our reviews here and here) it seems Richard Linklater has decided to disembark ‘The Incredible Mr. Limpet’. Linklater had been attached to direct the film since 2011.
Just recently we had reported that Jon Hamm had agreed to join the cast, joining Zach Galifianakis,Danny McBride and Sarah Silverman.
Now it appears that, with his cache at an all-time high, he has decided to cash it in and make another film close to his heart, ‘That’s What I’m Talking About’.
‘That’s What I’m Talking About’, a film Linklater has referred to as a “Spiritual sequel to ‘Dazed and Confused'” will focus on a group of college freshmen, in the 1980’s, learning how to make their way in their first year and to make the baseball team. Can we get a Wooderson cameo?
I find it refreshing to see an artist following his heart. He’ll have plenty more opportunity to make big budget Hollywood fare if he needs it. I say, “Cudos, sir! Follow your muse, make great personal films and and we’ll follow you.”
