Mike Epps has been cast as Richard Pryor in Lee Daniels’ biopic of the troubled comedian. Daniels tweeted the news on Sunday after speculation raged for weeks over who would be playing Pryor. Nick Cannon, Marlon Wayans and Michael B. Jordan had previously all been in the running for the role. Epps is said to have clinched the role after an explosive screen test.

The role of Pryor’s wife had been rumored to be between Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway. I’d expect an announcement in the very near future.
