Are There Still Plans for a 24 Movie?

TVLine is reporting that a Jack Bauer film has been gaining steam but that something might be getting in its way… No, not the ghost of Nina Myers. It’s Jack Bauer, actually. Specifically, the television version of Jack Bauer.

Jack Bauer vs Jack Bauer? Who will win??

Looks like unless they kill each other (a very real possibility with a man that badass) the 24 fans will win in some capacity.

The report states that “Imagine Entertainment — perhaps buoyed by the positive buzz generated by Fox’s 24: Live Another Day revival — is kicking around a new feature idea. Imagine Chairman Brian Grazer is said to be particularly keen on the pitch, which has yet to be brought to 20th Century Fox.”

But the situation gets a bit sticky because the FOX television network will likely want to plan another 24 miniseries in the near future. FOX Networks Group Chairman CEO made the following comments back in July:

“I loved this year’s season of 24. I’ve always been a fan. We haven’t had a specific conversation about it coming back yet, but I’m sure we will in the future. It’s a wonderful franchise. When you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell. I think we need to sit down and talk to the creators.”

This leads one to wonder which Bauer would come out on top? I think the obvious winner would be to keep 24 coming back in its TV form as long as viewers are still watching. Better yet, perhaps they could adopt something akin to Marvel and explore both avenues and expand the 24 universe even more.

Whether it’s a big budget tentpole film or a great miniseries, I’ll take a little more 24 as long as we have Jack Bauer saving the world while yelling, “Damn it, Chloe!”
