Elizabeth Olsen has signed on to I saw the Light, the Hank Williams biopic starring Tom Hiddleston. Olsen will be playing Williams’ wife, Audrey Williams in the biopic directed by Marc Abraham. The film is based on the book of the same name written by Colin Escott.
Hank Williams was a legendary country musician who recorded 35 top ten singles on the Billboard Country & Western Best Sellers Chart before his death at age 29, 11 of which ranked number one. Hank and Audrey had a very intense relationship. Audrey married Hank at age 20 after divorcing her first husband, with whom she had a daughter. She would eventually seek to share the spotlight with her husband, performing a handful of duets with Hank. Escott writes, “Her duets with Hank were like an extension of their married life in that she fought him for dominance on every note.” The marriage was marred with alcohol and substance abuse as well as rumored mutual infidelity.
Sounds like an interesting film to me. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
