With TV mega hit Sons Of Anarchy finishing up its final season, star Charlie Hunnam finds himself with some free time on his hands. So what does he do now? According to Variety he fights for his life in Thai prison using Muai Thai kick-boxing, of course.
Hunnam, who originally turned down the role of Christian Grey in 50 Shades Of Grey due to conflicting schedules with his TV show, will star in the new action drama A Prayer Before Dawn.
Based on the true-life story of the incarceration of Billy Moore in Klong Prem – one of Thailand’s most notorious prisons – A Prayer Before Dawn is said to be the tale of one man’s descent into hell and his struggle for redemption.
Director Jean-Stephane Sauvaire has described the film as “a true story, a prison drama, a survival movie, a desperate love story, and an extraordinary tale of redemption. Above all, it is a poignant and uniquely human story.”
Hunnam is already undergoing training in Muay Thai kick-boxing and Sauvaire has begun casting former Thai prisoners who were also Muay Thai champions. Filming is set to begin in Thailand in summer of 2015.
After seeing what Charlie Hunnam can do as far as fighting goes in Sons Of Anarchy as well as films such as Green Street Hooligans, I have no doubt that he can physically pull off a role like this. And I have no questions about him having the acting chops, as his tortured and conflicted Jackson “Jax” Teller is one of TV’s greatest characters going.
