Channing Tatum Circling Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’

by: Jay Carlson

Looks like Channing Tatum is in talks to join The Hateful Eight. Deadline is reporting that the Foxcatcher star is looking at one of the major roles in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film.

Tarantino has already cast Samuel L Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell and Tim Roth in his film about bounty hunters trying to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception. He will begin shooting the film in January on 65mm film, with the intention to have the widest 70mm film release in the last twenty years.

This news comes hot on the heels of news that X-Men spinoff, Gambit, was moving forward with Tatum starring as the titular cajun mutant superhero. He’s also been receiving huge awards buzz for his portrayal of Mark Shultz in Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher.

A couple years ago, I would have hated this announcement. But I’ve really come around from my first impressions of Tatum. I didn’t give him a fair shake initially, but he’s really proven himself with comedic turns in the Jump Street series as well as less traditional fare like Haywire and Side Effects.
