Gina Carano Boards ‘Kickboxer’

by: Marcus Rivera

If the following report doesn’t get your blood pumping for this remake, I don’t know what will, as former MMA star Gina Carano has joined the the cast of Kickboxer. Carano will once again work with director John Stockwell, as she starred in his 2014 revenge film “In The Blood”.

Carano joins a cast that already includes Dave Bautista, whom Carano worked with on next year’s Bus 657, George St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Solider), Alain Moussi, Jean Claude Van Damme & the two newest additions Darren Shahlavi & Sara Malakul Lane. Shahlavi will play Eric Sloane, brother of Kurt Sloane, who is brutally injured by Tong Po (Bautista) while Malakul Lane will play the love interest of Kurt Sloane (Moussi).

Currently it is unknown what character Carano will play as the original film only had one female lead but it looks like Carano is positioning herself to make moves next year. I loved her in both Fast 6 & Haywire and as MMA becomes a more popular fight form on screen, can Carano be the next great action starlet? Production began this month in Thailand & New Orleans and Kickboxer is slated for a 2015 release date.
