Nicholas Winding Refn’s next film The Neon Demon has hopefully found it’s star. The Wrap is reporting that actress Elle Fanning is currently in negotiations to play the lead in the Drive director’s next project.
Fanning has worked with a multitude of Hollywood’s biggest directors. She’s starred in films for JJ Abrams (Super 8), Cameron Crowe (We Bought A Zoo), and Francis Ford Coppola (Twixt) just to name a few. Refn would just be another feather in the young thespian’s cap.
The Neon Demon is a female-driven horror film writen by Refn and newcomer Mary Laws. Fanning would play “an aspiring model caught in a world of beauty and demise.”
That sounds vague and wierd yet intriguing.
Refn has had an uneven track record recently. Drive was loved by fans and critics alike but Only God Forgives got mixed reviews. The Neon Demon is his chance to bounce back and get in the fans (and critics) good graces again.
The film is currently set to begin production in March in Los Angeles.
