Indepedence Day Forever, the sequel to the 1996 big budget film Independence Day that starred Will Smith and Bill Pullman, has offered up it’s leading role. According to The Wrap, sources are saying that Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth has been given the offer to star in the film.
The Roland Emmerich helmed picture has been a long time in the making. There was a time when Smith was rumored to return, but those claims didn’t hold up. It has been reported that Pullman and Jeff Goldblum will reprise their roles from the previous film.
Red hot Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, FOX’s upcoming Fantastic Four) has been rumored for a role in the film, as well.
I liked the original, but is the world really clamoring for a sequel to this? I know there could be an even larger alien armada that was just waiting and biding their time. It just feels like too much time has passed for me really care all that much about this project. I’m sure it’ll be a decent popcorn flick for the middle of the summer, but right now it’s not tops on my list of highly anticipated films to catch.
What do you think? Is this one you’re excited to see?
