J.K. Simmons is on a roll. He’s almost a lock for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Whiplash. He followed that up by siging on to the King Kong origin remake Kong: Skull Island. He could probably pick and choose his next few projects as he pleases. But it was an interview with Howard Stern that turned out to be very interesting.
On Sirius XM’s The Howard Stern Show, host Howard Stern nonchalantly asked Simmons if another Spider-Man film was in the works. Simmons said he’s heard things but doesn’t know for sure. When asked if he’d reprise his role as Peter Parker’s boss J. Jonah Jameson, Simmons said “Absolutely.”
There have been rumors that Sony is looking to reboot the series and go in a different direction than what they’ve been dong with Andrew Garfield. If they choose to and decide to show Peter Parker working at the Daily Bugle I hope that they bring back Simmons. Even though comic book enthusiasts can be very particular about what goes on in their movies, I think we can all agree that Simmons is the only person that truly fits the JJJ mold.
Am I off the track? Is there anyone else that could wear the moustache? Sound off and let me know!
