It took a Sony movie deal to get Mystique and Star-Lord to hook up.
The Hollywood Reporter has conformed that Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt have been offered the lead roles in the studio’s upcoming sc-fi love story Passengers.
Pratt showed he’s more than just the schlubby funny guy when he killed it as Peter “StarLord” Quill in Marvel Studio’s runaway summer hit Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s parlayed that into quite the resume with this summer’s upcoming Jurassic World, Antoine Fuqua’s Magnificent Seven remake and a host of other offers. Lawrence has ruled the box office in one way or another these past years, either with the rebooted X-Men franchise or the Hunger Games series where she plays reluctant revolution symbol Katniss Everdeen.
I could get behind the two of them in a love story. They look like they might have decent onscreen chemistry with each other.
The Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum has been the lead choice to helm this and it’s said he is close to inking his deal. If he did sign on, he’d be working off a John Spaihts script. Spaights worked on Prometheus and is currently writing Marvel Studio’s Doctor Strange.
Sony’s project Passengers is reportedly set to take place on a spaceship that is making a journey that takes more than a century. No start date for production has been set.
