Just in time for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney has ordered a LEGO-style retelling of the first six chapters in the classic sci-fi saga according to The Hollywood Reporter. The LEGO redux will consist of five 22-minute episodes that tell the tale from Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi.
While it may seem a little preposterous that the retelling will showcase the entire saga in 110 minutes, it’s the concept that makes it seem plausible – the series will be told from the point of view of the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 in a new story.
Set after the Rebel Alliance victory at the end of Jedi, the droids are telling the story of their amazing adventure. An accidental kidnapping leads to an all-new adventure that necessitates the retelling of the epic from Episode 1 all the way through Episode 6.
No writers or directors have been named as of yet. The series will premiere on Disney XD sometime in the future.
