It was just recently announced that EastEnders star Sam Strike was joining the cast of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel/origin, titled Leatherface. Well now The Wrap is reporting on another actor joining the fray and a possible twist on the story.
James Bloor is in talks to join Strike on the horror movie. Bloor is a relative newcomer, starring in the indie drama The Total Princess, which is in post-production. He’s currently being courted to play Ike, a budding young maniac who may someday wield the chainsaw.
That’s right. It was first thought that Sam Strike would play Leatherface. Now it seems that we may have a trio of young psychos who could possibly be the hulking brute. That means that we still have one more role to cast to complete this triumvirate of evil.
The specific time frame of the movie is unclear at this time. We could see Leatherface at different stages in his young life or there may be multiple actors playing him. Until we get a script review or synopsis, it’s all speculation for now.
Up-and-comer Seth M. Sherwood is writing the script that will be directed by French duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the pair behind the cult indie horror flick, Inside.
I like the casting of people not known to the American movie-going audience. It’s a career-making opportunity. Let’s hope these two young men are up to the challenge.
