Ryan Reynolds has been busy repping Marvel’s Merc With A Mouth on social media recently and it looks like that train has no intent of slowing down. 20th Century FOX, the studio behind the upcoming Deadpool film have launched a Facebook and Twitter page for the film as well as releasing the official logo and synopsis.
The logo is pretty plain, but it works. I would have liked the circle symbol DP uses as a belt buckle used in some way, but that could be some time down the line.
The synopsis for the film is pretty generic:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Any fan of the character knows that anything involving Deadpool will be wacky, insane and beyond any conventional explanation anyways. This is a film that was pushed forward by the fans that read and love the character and the fans involved in making the actual product (Ryan Reynolds has always had this film in his sights, championing it since day one). It has the MARVEL logo, so most people will go see it just for that despite what the “official description” says.
Deadpool is filming now for a February 12, 2016 release. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Gina Carano, Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller and will be directed by Tim Miller.
