It was huge news that Chadwick Boseman was signed to play T’Challa a.k.a. The Black Panther for Marvel Studios. But as we know, all royal legacies have lineages. And The Black Panther’s may include a Ghostbuster.
Latino Review is hitting us with the news that Ernie Hudson, most famous for portraying Winston in the Ghostbusters films, may be in line to play King T’Chaka, father to T’Challa, in Captain America: Civil War. There hasn’t been any official word, but Hudson has been seen hitting the gym and picking up back issues of Black Panther featuring king T’Chaka according to LR’s sources.
In Marvel Comics history, King T’chaka was killed by a man known as Ulysses Klaw. Before Klaw could invade the sovereign nation of Wakanda (Black Panther’s homeland), T’Chaka’s son T’Challa drove the villain and his henchmen away. With Andy Serkis set to play Klaw in Avengers: Age of Ultron, could his role just be set-up for Black Panther’s origin story in Civil War?
Ernie Hudson is no stranger to Disney, having recently played Poseidon on ABC’s Once Upon A Time. From one regal role to another, Hudson would be a decent choice. His episode of OUAT wasn’t anything spectacular, but then he didn’t have all that much screen time, either.
With Captain America: Civil War currently filming in Atlanta, expect this rumor to be confirmed or rebuked in the very near future.
