Fresh from his badass role of Mr. Nobody in the box office smash Furious 7, Kurt Russell is currently in talks to join the cast of Peter Berg’s upcoming film Deepwater Horizon.
Russell would join Mark Wahlberg and Gina Rodriguez if he signed on.
Deepwater Horizon is the story of the 2010 explosion on a BP oil rig that resulted in the biggest oil spill in U.S. history, the blast killed 11 workers and injured 17 more. The resulting gusher wasn’t capped for three months.
Matthew Michael Carnahan is adapting the script from the New York Times article “Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour” by David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul.
The film is set to hit theaters September 30, 2016.
