Who Is Going to Write ‘Captain Marvel’?

by: S. Scott Stanikmas

The other day Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, had some updates for Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of those updates was that they were currently looking at announcing the writer or writers of Captain Marvel in a week or so.

Well it looks like The Hollywood Reporter may have let the cat out of the bag and beaten Marvel Studios to the punch on this reveal.

Rumor has it that the studio is looking at a pair of writers with Disney experience already under their belts. Nicole Perlman, co-writer of the megahit Guardians of the Galaxy, and Meg LeFauve, co-writer of Pixar’s upcoming animated feature Inside Out, are currently leading the pack to pen the script of Marvel’s first female-led film.

Perlman and LeFauve aren’t a writing team even though they have co-written movies with other partners. But it’s said that Feige liked both writers’ take on the character so much that he decided to mesh them together to get the best possible results.

It’s being said that Marvel was actively searching for female writers. While many of you know my feelings on this (if not, feel free to search out my Wonder Woman articles right here on Indierevolver), I think both writers bring something to the table on this one. Perlman showed she can write strong and funny females in GotG. And while it isn’t out yet, Inside Out looks absolutely adorable.

The titular Captain Marvel of this film will be Carol Danvers, a career military woman (in the comics) who accidentally gets infused with alien DNA which gives her a myriad of superpowers, including super strength and flight!

While no director has been hired as of yet, the film does have a release date of July 6, 2018.
