It looks like Liam Neeson is heading back into familiar territory.
The Hollywood Reporter has the good word from Cannes that Neeson has signed on to star in A Willing Patriot, from director Jason Keller. The story has Neeson as a CIA Agent that gets caught up in a cat-and-mouse game against a terrorist planning a sinister attack…and of course, the CIA agent has a shady past.
If the past half-decade or so has taught us anything, it’s that if you can only have one man waging war against impossible odds, that man would be Liam Neeson.
The actor had been speaking recently about retiring from the action movie genre, but that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
I loved Taken, but after the two subsequent sequels and a slew of no-brain action films, I’m a little burned out on Liam Neeson: Action Hero. (I’ll take Liam Neeson: Badass, like in The Grey though) He seems to be playing the same role over and over lately. It was fun at first, but now is the time for the actor to hang up his collection of guns and go back to doing some worthwhile cinema.
