One of my highly anticipated movies this summer is Jurassic World. I really liked Jurassic Park when it first came out and ever since Guardians of the Galaxy I love seeing Chris Pratt as an action star with a humorous side. Everything I’ve seen so far gives me nothing but faith in Colin Trevorrow’s vision.
So it comes as a bit of a shock to learn that the director won’t be coming back to helm a sequel. Now bear in mind that word of a second installment has yet to be talked about. For all we know, the movie could end with the island on fire and everyone dead. But usually when a film is tracking this positive there is at least some buzz about sequels.
BadTaste.it (via ComingSoon) was at the Paris premiere when Colin Trevorrow said this:
“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste to each movie. I would be involved in some way, but not as director.”
It’s interesting that he mentions Star Wars. Even though people would rather see Brad Bird take the spot left open by the departing Josh Trank, could Trevorrow be angling for his chance to play in the LucasFilm sandbox?
Whatever happens, I just can’t wait to see Jurassic World. I just hope Pratt and the raptors make it out alive for the next movie.
