Chris Pratt’s next film, the highly anticipated Jurassic World, is set to come out very soon and he’s been excitedly hitting up the press circuit to pimp the film. That hasn’t stopped a few outlets from asking about his next big project, Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Pratt talked about reading director James Gunn’s script and absolutely loving it:
We’ve talked a little. I know some of the songs that are going to be on Awesome Mix Vol 2. All I can tell you because – obviously, I’m not allowed to say anything, nor would I want to because it would be like telling a kid what’s under the tree before Christmas morning.
I would encourage people not to poke holes in the paper and peek, allow yourself the ‘Christmas morning’.
What I will say is that [Gunn’s] pitch and his ideas legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good, it’s so good. I can not wait to get started on it and I can not wait for people to see what he’s going to pull off with this second movie. It’s so big and so good. From what I understand, Marvel [heard Gunn’s pitch] and they said nothing. [It] was that perfect. There was no micromanaging of the idea. They just love it so much they didn’t have any notes for it. It’s going to be remarkable.
This confirms previous rumors going around that Marvel loved the pitch as it was and had no major notes for Gunn. There were also rumors that the next movie involves Star-Lord (Pratt) on the search for his dad. (I know, I know – he said enjoy the surprises. I can’t help it.) I will say the first movie brought a tear to my eye when Star-Lord saw his mom at the end of the film and finally got to say goodbye in his own way. Could a teary reunion with his dad be next on the list?
This will be a tough stretch until the next GotG. I’ve never had to wait two years for Christmas. I have a ton of faith in James Gunn after the first Guardians flick, so I have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will hit theaters May 5, 2017.
