It would seem as though Wolverine has slashed Hugh Jackman out of a potential role.
Deadline is reporting that the Aussie actor has pulled out of the upcoming film Collateral Beauty. Word is that filming for the next Wolverine solo film is conflicting with the shooting schedule for the other film.
That’s not slowing down production company PalmStar Media, though. If Jackman can’t do it, the studio is looking to nab Johnny Depp for the starring role. It’s far from a done deal, but this film is being touted as one of the more competitive projects on the market at this time.
Rooney Mara and Jason Segal are still attached to co-star in the film. This is currently set up as the next project for director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. AGR recently had a huge hit this year with the poignant and honest Me And Earl And The Dying Girl.
Collateral Beauty tells the story of a New York advertising exec who suffers a personal tragedy. His friends and colleagues devise an unconventional way to break him out of his funk. It works, but not in the way that everyone thought it would.
It sounds very vague, but if Gomez-Rejon has signed on, it must have some merit behind it. I don’t think he’d pick something without heart and soul in it for his follow-up project to the biggest film of his career to date.
Shooting is slated to begin this fall.
