Netflix seems to be the place to be if you want to flesh out your cinematic universe these days.

After partnering up with Disney-owned Marvel Studios and working on creating a gritty TV universe that ties in with the theatrical one, it looks like the streaming service provider is taking another property from the House of Mouse and doing almost the same thing.

Cinelinx is reporting that Lucasfilm and Netflix will be teaming up for a trio of live-action shows set in the Star Wars universe.

There were reports back in March that Disney and Lucasfilm were looking for ways to flesh out the new Star Wars universe going forward. The company wanted not only feature films, but books and TV shows to keep the fans engaged in-between the theatrical releases. Disney wanted three shows to be filmed that would take place in-between the movies, using the same sets and the like, so that the grander picture didn’t just fall to the wayside.

Nothing has been set in stone as of yet. Either Disney, Lucasfilm or Netflix have made any official announcements, so for now we’re filing this under MAYBE. But Netflix’s track record of quality programming at reasonable budgets makes all the sense in the world…even if that world is in a galaxy far, far away.
