Trainwreck has been a juggernaut at the box office for the last month, raking in a ton of cash and getting rave reviews all over. The team-up of comedian / actress Amy Schumer and superstar director Judd Apatow turned out to be box office gold.
Now Schumer is looking to team up with another big name director and make lightning strike twice.
Deadline is reporting that 50/50 and Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine is in line to helm Schumer’s next project, a vacation comedy.
The film centers around a mother and daughter who go on vacation in Brazil and end up kidnapped. Obviously hilarity will ensue and hijinks will happen as the duo will likely work through whatever problems they have to escape and evade recapture from their abductors.
The script was originally written by The Heat writer Katie Dippold and was loosely based on her relationship with her mother. Schumer then came in with her sister Kim Caramele to rework the script to fit her voice and comedy stylings.
Right now no deal has been officially made. But Levine and Schumer would be a good blend, as they’ve both proven that they can blend high drama with gut-busting comedy with both of their past projects.
