File this under news you never thought would happen – apparently Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer will be writing and starring in a movie together at some point in the future.
Lawrence recently sat down for a talk with the New York Times and dropped the bomb that she and Schumer had become best buddies and writing partners for a movie they plan on co-starring in:
We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.
Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.
There have been photos surfacing of the two hanging out this past summer like the best of friends at summer camp, but I never would have thought this kind of a collaboration would have come from it. While she has been known to be witty at press junkets and the like, Lawrence has never shown an interest in comedies before. It may just be that she’s never been offered one, so this will be a new venture for the actress.
Schumer has become the new comedy go-to girl, with Trainwreck being a hit with the critics and doing a decent amount of bank at the box office this summer.
As of now, this project is still in the very early stages. There hasn’t been any word on interested studios, but with Schumer’s name attached and Lawrence nabbing her first screenwriting credit, this seems like a no-brainer for a major studio to pick up and turn a decent profit on.
Keep checking back as we’ll keep our ears open for any further developments.
