Who Wouldn’t Like to See Anne Hathaway in ‘The Shower’?

Anne Hathaway 1

Anne Hathaway always manages to surprise people with the projects she chooses to get involved in. From comic book fare (The Dark Knight Rises) to musicals (Les Miserables) to highbrow sci-fi (Interstellar), the actress likes to keep her options open, and her latest project speaks to that.

The actress has decided to produce and star in the female-centric alien invasion comedy The Shower, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Shower has been said to be a mix of This Is the End, Attack the Block and Bridesmaids.

It begins at a baby shower on a bright, sunny day. Soon the sky turns dark due to a meteor shower. But his isn’t an average meteor shower. This intergalactic assault turns the men on Earth into bloodthirsty aliens. Now everyone on the XX side of the spectrum finds themselves fighting for their lives and the survival of the planet.

The film, written by Jac Schaeffer, was on last year’s Blacklist, a list of the best unproduced screenplays circulating in Hollywood. Schaeffer will also produce alongside Hathaway

Hathaway is excited to be a part of this film, as can be inferred from her statement:

Jac has written an awesome sci-fi comedy centered around funny, fully dimensional female characters. I feel so lucky to be a part of the team that will bring her enormously talented and fresh voice to the big screen.

The plan is to get a director and a few more stars on board before they begin shopping it around, so this is still in the very early stages.

This is the second time in the last few months that Hathaway has chosen something really outside her norm. She recently was announced as being attached to the kaiju film Colossal, which has been described as a combination of Godzilla and Being John Malkovich.
