It’s no secret that Benicio del Toro will be in the next proper Star Wars film. Word circulated early that the actor would be an antagonist in the film, possibly causing fits for the Rebel Alliance.

Well, the actor may have given up just a little bit more regarding not only his character but a timeframe for when the next film will start shooting.

In an interview with Spanish website Rac1.org (translated by Star Wars 7 News) the actor was asked about what he had coming up and he said the following:

Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March.

The interviewer must have realized that they had something going, so they decided to probe a little deeper and ask what his character would be, but the actor became a little more guarded with his next answer:

Ehhh, the thing is, they don’t let me talk too much about it. I’m like the villain. But we’ll see.

So del Toro is a semi-villain? Will he be a bounty hunter, selling his services to the highest bidder only to have a Han Solo-esque change of heart and swoop in to save the day? Or is he aligned fully with the Dark Side and he’s just not the main bad guy?

Whatever the case may be, I’m positive BdT will crush any role he’s given. He has this knack for taking any role, even something that seemed like a throwaway part like The Collector for Marvel Studios, and making it memorable.

And a March shoot date? Makes sense with the film coming out a little more than a year after that.

Star Wars Episode VIII, which will be directed by Rian Johnson, hits theaters May 2017.
