When Disney and Lucasfilm set their sights on something, the go full “force.”

EW originally reported that later this month Ireland would be the site of re-shoots for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, they got the franchise right, just not the episode.

In an updated story from the entertainment news outlet, it is now confirmed that filming will begin on Star Wars Episode VIII!

Not much is known about the film at this time outside of the fact that Rian Johnson is writing and directing and Benicio del Toro will have some kind of role on the darker side of things.

We can’t even speculate as to where the film could branch off from The Force Awakens, as that film is still a little over three months away!

Episode VIII is set for a May 26, 2017 release, so I’m fairly confident we’ll get little bits dribbled out here and there. It’s Star Wars after all, so keep your web browsers tuned here for any big upcoming news.
