More than a decade after he last took flight, The Creeper will be back to hunt for more body parts as Jeepers Creepers 3 has been given the greenlight.
The film has found a new home, moving from MGM to Myriad Pictures and its new genre arm, Scoundrel.
Already announced are Jonathan Breck who will be reprising his role as The Creeper and Brandon Smith (from the first film) as Sgt. Davis Tubbs, the man who will presumably hunt the monster down.
The series, which was created by Victor Salva, first introduced us to the body part hunting monster The Creeper back in 2001. The first film, which starred Justin Long and Gina Philips as a pair of siblings that have the bad luck of running across The Creeper, was popular enough to spawn a sequel a few years later.
The series lay dormant for years after that, with rumors of another film and even a TV show surfacing from time to time. But Salva seems to have big plans now that a sequel has been Okayed.
“What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe,” said Salva in Myriad’s announcement. “We are bringing back the Creeper’s truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.”
I have to wonder what the timeframe will be on this film. The last two films took place over the course of just a few days and the last time we saw the Creeper he was trussed up with Ray Wise looking to spear him like an olive in a martini glass. I have to assume this will be a prequel of sorts if we’re going to get answers to the “big questions” Salva alludes to.
