He’s faced down hordes of zombies, dystopian and despotic governments and elusive serial killers. So what does Woody Harrelson do next? He declares war on those damn dirty apes!
The Hollywood Reporter has sources that say the actor has nabbed the lead human villain role in Fox’s upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes.
The character Harrelson will play is called The Colonel, which by itself does sound like he could be evil. I guess when you go to war, you have to follow someone into the battle though.
Details on the film are very scarce at the moment. We know that the film will continue the saga of Caesar, the ape brought to life by Andy Serkis via motion capture in the first film in the reboot series. But we don’t know how much time will have passed between the second and third installments or just how far along the simians have evolved.
It was reported a while back that Gabriel Chavarria had nabbed himself a role as one of the few homo sapiens in the film, but insiders tell THR that his role is a rather small one.
Thankfully, Matt Reeves returns to put his mark on the franchise once again. Shooting is expected to start this October for a possible release date sometime late next year.
