After idling for a couple for years Michael Mann’s biopic about automobile entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari is finally stepping on the gas pedal. The role of Enzo himself has been filled by Christian Bale (who stepped in after the departure of Vincent Chase) and now the film has found the person that will play his wife.

According to The Wrap, Noomi Rapace has been signed to portray Ferrari’s wife Laura Dominica.

The film has also found a distribution outlet as Paramount Pictures has picked it up. Principal photography has been set for next summer.

Mann’s film will merge two screenplays written by Troy Kennedy-Martin and David Rayfiel. Both screenplays were based on the David Yates biography Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine.

Even though Yates’ book is a comprehensive and complete biography of Ferrari’s life, reports state that the film will focus on one tragic period in 1957 when a Ferrari race car crashed during a race. Eleven people were killed in total – the driver, co-driver and nine spectators (which included five children).

No release date has been set for the film as of yet.
