When you think of quality television the first channel in your mind should be AMC. From already finished masterpieces like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, to their ongoing horror series The Walking Dead and its companion series Fear The Walking Dead, to upcoming shows like Preacher, AMC seems to have its finger on the pulse of what makes enjoyable TV. And now they have their sights set on a fantastic book that they want to adapt.

According to Deadline, Joe Hill’s NOS4A2 is the next property the channel wants to bring from the page to the screen.

Hill’s massive tome tells the tale of Victoria “Vic” McQueen, a young woman who has the unique psychic ability of being able to travel on the Shorter Way Bridge to find things that have been lost. Her powers draw the attention of serial child abductor and near-immortal killer Charlie Manx, who also travels a similar route when he takes his “children” to his special place, dubbed Christmasland.

The story takes place over the course of a few decades, when Vic is a young girl and later when she is a woman with a child of her own who may be the next victim on Manx’s list.

While no writers or directors have been mentioned, word is that AMC is first searching out one person to act as showrunner to lasso everything together.

While I love the idea of anything Joe Hill has written being adapted into another medium I just don’t know about this. The book might have enough material for one season, maybe two if they weave in the IDW comic book prequel series Wraith: Welcome To Christmasland, but beyond that I’m not sure how much mileage AMC can get out of this.

Whatever the case is on this one, I’m sure they’ll start to figure out a direction once a crew gets hired and put in place. Until then we’ll just have to patient and wait for more news.
