Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson had a breakout year, impressing everyone with her dynamic performance in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. That role lead to her being talked about for nearly every leading role a female could get in the latter half of 2015.
One role we know she’ll be back for will be a history making one. Showbiz 411 says that Ferguson is signed up for the sixth installment of the Mission: Impossible series, which is set to begin production in August 2016.
This will be the first time a major female character has returned for more than a cameo. Michelle Monaghan was in both Mission: Impossible III and Ghost Protocol, but her second time around was just a quick cameo.
Ferguson’s Isla Faust damn near stole the show from Tom Cruise and the rest of the IMF boys club. With these movies being more of an ensemble piece as the series goes forward it’s nice to see some fresh blood injected into the franchise.
With how positive the fan reaction was to her performance I’m hoping that Ferguson becomes a permanent addition to the Mission: Impossible films, much like how Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg have now become regulars.
