Kurt Russell Eyed for Major Role in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’

Kurt Russell is having quite the career resurgence lately. First he had a major comeback in Furious 7 and nearly stole the show earlier this year. The horror-western Bone Tomahawk came in under the radar but had good reviews. And he’s about to show up in multiplexes all over in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. But if the reports are true he might get one of the biggest roles to come his way in the last few years.

The Wrap has sources close to the casting process that tell them Russell is being eyed to play Star-Lord’s father in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

This would be a huge coup for both Russell and Marvel Studios. Both sides have refused to comment on the situation at the current moment, however.

A few weeks back, director James Gunn said that any news that doesn’t come from him is pure bunk and that he’s not going to be divulging any secrets anytime soon. However leaks like this happen all the time so this could be a possibility.

For now I’ll be leery about this, until we hear something concrete or see it on a call sheet when filming begins.

But if it is true, the question on the tips of everyone’s tongues will be just who exactly will Russell be playing?
