It seems like only yesterday I was compiling my top 10 of 2014 for Indie Revolver. Where has the year gone?

I have to say, last year I had an easier time compiling the list and even had it sorted from 1-10. This year was much harder. Without numbering I will just get on to the 10 films that moved me the most in 2015:

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl:

Everyone with a soul needs to see this movie. It’s probably the most true to life film of the year.

The Hateful Eight:

Quentin Tarantino has done it again. All star cast of his usual suspects but this film turns into a wonderful character study of bad guys and really bad guys.

Straight Outta Compton:

Now I was never really a die hard rap fan growing up but I was aware of NWA. This film was done so well I’m really surprised it has not received more love during awards season

The Martian:

Wow. Just wow. This kept me on the edge of my seat for the duration of the film. It was created with so much research it actually seemed like it could have been based on a true story if I didn’t know any better.

Creed:

Now when I go into a Rocky (spinoff) movie I don’t have high hopes. That said, Creed stands right up there loud and proud with the first two Rocky movies. Whole lot of heart and the best performance in years by Sly Stallone. I’m rooting for an Supporting Actor Oscar nom for him.

Kingsman: The Secret Service:

It was this years Guardians of the Galaxy. The most fun you will have all year in the cinema. Can’t wait for the follow up.

Danny Collins:

I absolutely love seeing a movie that I have no preconceived thoughts about and being totally blown away. This did it for me on so many levels. I felt emotionally invested in the characters.

Black Mass:

I knew I would like this from the early buzz about the film. I actually forgot I was watching Johnny Depp on screen. Between him and Joel Edgerton, they both give their best performances in a while.

Spotlight:

Another Boston based true story like Black Mass. Being from Massachusetts I had no idea how involved the Boston Globe was in uncovering the Catholic Church Scandal. Amazing performances from an equally amazing cast. This may just win the best picture Oscar this year.

Steve Jobs:

I think I may be the only one of my friends to like this movie. The film has it’s flaws but is amazingly written and probably Michael Fassbender’s best performance to date.
