So after months of rumors and hearsay we finally have some concrete news regarding one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most anticipated sequels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.

Marvel Studios jetted out a press release regarding the film, saying that shooting has begun down in Atlanta’s Pinewood Studios. But the biggest news is the confirmation of the new cast members. Chris Sullivan, Elizabeth Debicki, Pom Klemetieff and Kurt Russell have all been confirmed as signed for the next installment in Marvel’s space opera.

While it’s unknown as to who Sullivan, Debicki or Russell will play, director James Gunn did go on record and say that Klementieff will be playing Mantis, an obscure but popular character that made her debut way back in the day.

Gunn also managed to share the first image, showing everyone’s favorite galactic saviors as they strut towards the camera with their game faces on.

Russell is still being pinned to play the father of Peter Quill / Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) but that has yet to be confirmed. While that would be cool I still think it would be even more out there to have KR do some CGI work and play the rumored Ego, The Living Planet

Here is the official press release from Marvel:
