The sequels are certainly getting a lot of love these days. Next up is John Wick 2, the sequel to the ultra-popular and highly surprising action flick that gave Keanu Reeves’ career a much needed boot in the ass.
So it looks like now we’ve got a new title, a release date and even a quick tidbit about the plot.
Coming to us from Exhibitor Relations, we now know that the next installment will be called John Wick: Chapter Two and it will drop into theaters on February 10, 2017. ER also said that we can expect to see the deadly hitman go global as he takes his act to Rome.
The fact that it’s called Chapter Two is real good. It means Lionsgate sees franchise potential in this (And Lionsgate is all about the big money franchises). The first film was really good, a sleeper hit that had no right being as good as it was. Hopefully any future chapters retain that sense of fun with fast-paced action.
Reeves will be back as the titular one-man wrecking crew. Returning will be Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Bridget Moynihan and Lance Reddick. New faces include Peter Stormare (yay!), Laurence Fishburne and Common (who was awesome himself as a hitman that wouldn’t quit in Run All Night).
Chad Stahelski, co-director on the first film, will return to helm this picture as well.
