A few days ago it was reported that Sylvester Stallone, hot off of being robbed for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, was spotted on the set of the currently in production Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. With a bevy of new faces showing up in this film the question quickly turned to what character the actor would be playing.

Two different news outlets have two conflicting theories – both of which could be true.

On Location Vacations (which was reported via SuperheroHype) says that they saw Sly in a costume that looked a lot like the one he wore in the 1995 bomb Judge Dredd. Now, seeing as the Mega City One peacekeeper isn’t a Marvel character that would be a pretty tough sell.

But his outfit could be an updated version of the Nova Corps suit and we did see the Nova Corps in the last Guardians film.

However on the flip side Heroic Hollywood says that Stallone will play a Ravager, one of the space pirates led by the blue-skinned alien Yondu. This would put the actor’s character in direct confrontation with the peace-keeping Nova Corps.

But what if Stallone’s character was a Nova Corps officer undercover in the Ravagers? Or what if the Ravagers stole Nova Corps outfits for some kind of job they were planning? It could go either way.

Until we get confirmation from director James Gunn (which is highly unlikely) we’ll just have to wait and see. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
