Ever since Sam Jackson showed up sporting an eye patch and nifty leather duster at the tail end of Iron Man back in 2008 fans of the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been staying put in their seats until the credits stop rolling just to get a glimpse of what might happen in future films.

And then The Avengers upped the ante by having two scenes – one mid-credits and the other a neat little coda at the end. After that some of the movies like Thor: The Dark World, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier followed suit with two extra scenes during the final credit roll.

But it looks like the Russo Brothers have to go ahead and one-up everything that’s come before them. In an interview with Forbes the duo talked about a few different things and one topic that came up was the infamous post-credit scene:

We can’t say who is going to be in it, but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three. We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done.

Three?!?! Really? That doesn’t seem like overkill?

I kid of course. We all know that fans are going to stay in the theater (to the anger of ushers everywhere that just want to sweep up spilled popcorn and toss empty soda cups) so why not tease as many upcoming projects as they can. It’s a good guess that we might see something for Black Panther. There might also be an update as to Thanos’ whereabouts and which film he might show up in next (Thor: Ragnarok? Avengers: Infinity War Part 1? Captain Marvel?). It could even be something totally unrelated to the current story, like a look at Doctor Strange.

However many scenes they have I know I’ll be staying seated until the lights go up and they kick me out of my seat. Captain America: Civil War opens on May 6 with many theaters showing early screenings the night before.
