Even though it might still be in the realm of the impossible to replicate dinosaurs through frozen DNA it is still possible to get the director of The Impossible to helm the next Jurassic World film.
Juan Antonio Bayona, director of The Orphanage and the aforementioned tsunami disaster film, has signed on to direct Universal’s next Jurassic World movie. Bayona and producers Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall made the announcement today via Twitter.

Trevorrow, who directed the last year’s Jurassic World, parlayed that into a gig directing a Star Wars film (which is why he couldn’t return for another go round with the returning Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard). The filmmaker did express his admiration for Bayona’s work and said the he looks forward to collaborating with the new director on the upcoming film.
Originally Bayona was attached to direct World War Z 2, which would have kept him out of the running for the Jurassic World 2 job. But the director was let go and now his calendar has been cleared for him to tackle dinosaurs instead of zombies.
Right now the Jurassic World sequel is penciled in for June 22, 2018.

Hopefully we get a little more meat and less superficial bloat in this new one. Thought the new one was a chore to sit through with the only highlights being the nostalgic boosts and the sea based dinosaur eating (one of the) annoying characters.
