Daniel Bruhl to Help Search for the ‘God Particle’

Bruhl

by: S. Scott Stanikmas – Senior Staff Writer

Daniel Bruhl has been having a stellar year so far. He had a compelling role in Colonia (which I’m guessing not a lot of people saw but should go out of their way to find) and was amazing in his part in Captain America: Civil War. He also has The Zookeeper’s Wife set to come out later this year, but after Civil War he can pretty much write his own ticket for a while – which is what makes his next project such an interesting choice.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Bruhl has just signed on for the J.J. Abrams-produced God Particle – which may or may not be part of the burgeoning Clover-verse.

Bruhl will join the star-studded cast of Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, John Krasinski and Elizabeth Debicki. The quartet will play scientists on a space station that watch the Earth blink out of existence, leaving them all alone in outer space. The arrival of another space station soon has the crew wondering if they’ll be saved or fighting for their lives.

J.J. Abrams has a neat little thing going with his possibly-connected universe. Cloverfield was an homage / love letter to the kaiju films of yesteryear while 10 Cloverfield Lane was an intense locked-room mystery that had me compelled almost the entire way through. God Particle seems like a funky sci-fi flick that brings together a great cast and fresh story.

Julius Onah is set to direct and the film is quite possibly getting under way as we speak, as it has a release date of February 24, 2017 penciled in.
