Dwayne “The Doc” Johnson?

It’s been rumored that the man sometimes known as The Rock is being sought after for the role of the Doc Savage when director Shane Black finally gets around to making it. And like most confirmations for his work schedule Dwayne Johnson may have just dropped the latest bomb on his Instagram account.

Finding our anchor. When I’m shooting on location I always need a space where I can work and keep building the enterprise. Here in Georgia this has been my space for months now. Keepin’ it country. Every film, TV show, partnership and project we develop gets handled from here. When I feel good about it, it goes in the pile to the left that clearly reflects my OCD. When I’m still making adjustments, it stays on the pile on the right. All contracts that need signing remain in the middle. On the iPad I’m reading an outline for a cool movie I’ll make in 2017 (with director Shane Black) and when I get tired and need a lil’ pick me up, the shaker cup holds a special shot of energy – Elk piss. The more complicated our lives get, the more we need simple spaces like this to anchor us. In simplistic terms, find your work space and anchor to help you keep your shit together. #AndDontTryDrinkingElkPiss #IWasKidding #ItsLionBlood 😉⚓️

Showing off his workspace Johnson talks about what he has in front of him – including contracts that need signing, a pick-me-up drink and “outline for a cool movie I’ll make in 2017 (with director Shane Black).”

Seeing as Black’s next project is the Predator remake / reboot which starts shooting this year and is set to drop in theaters in 2017 could this be the long-awaited Doc Savage film? Many people out there seem to think so. And The Rock does have the right physique and comedic timing to play the pulp-era hero.

We’ll keep checking back on this until something concrete comes around but I’m willing to believe that we’ll see The Rock as the Doc.
