Ever since the first shots of a Robin suit with the words “HA HA” spray painted on it were shown in a trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, speculation ran wild with just who it could have been in that suit.
Did the Joker kill Dick Grayson and totally throw the Dark Knight down a dark abyss from which he seemingly has yet to return? Or did the WB stick with the comics and have Batman’s biggest failure be the death of Jason Todd? Could it even be that it was someone later on down the line like Tim Drake or Stephanie Brown?
We may have our answer. A video was posted on Warner Bros Facebook page (which has since been taken down) from one of their official Studio Tours. The tour guide stops on the spray painted Robin suit and goes into a little detail:
This was one of the big things from Batman v Superman, right across this way. The Jason Todd Robin suit. Spray painted on the front ‘Ha ha. The joke’s on you Batman’. Those of you that know the storyline, know what happened to this Robin.
So did this tour guide accidentally give away too much and spoil stuff we were going to learn about in later films? Rumors were swirling that the next Batman solo film was going to focus on the Death In The Family and Under The Red Hood arcs which focused on the death and subsequent rebirth/return of Jason Todd.
Then again there were rumors that Ben Affleck’s first solo jaunt as Batman was going to be something more akin to the Hush storyline, meaning that it was going to cram in as many villains as it could.
We’ll find out more as the Batman films comes closer to becoming a reality in 2018. I’m sure we’ll get a bunch of storyline leaks and actor call sheets that will help us decipher if this is true or not. Until then, because it was on the official Facebook page (and then taken down once news outlets started running with it), I’m inclined to believe this for the time being.
