Just a little while back we learned about the all-star cast for Thor: Ragnarok, the third film in the God of Thunder’s franchise. But little was released about the plot. Sure we’ve heard that it’s going to be some kind of “buddy team-up” with Thor and Hulk (ever the odd couple) but other than that we’ve got nothing.
Until yesterday that is. JoBlo has some sources that apparently know a thing or two about a thing or two and got some decent details on Ragnarok.
Keep in mind these are kind of SPOILERish, so we’ll do the usual space in case you want to turn back…

Still with me? Cool, because these are some neat details.
The story is a Thor story but it will weave in some elements of the fan favorite Planet Hulk storyline from the comic books. The Odinson will find the Jade Giant fighting in some kind of gladiator arena (wearing the armor made popular in the comics) in a game run the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).
That seems pretty cool. I really like the animated film Marvel did a few years back. Even though their animation game is kind of on the down side their Planet Hulk adaptation was a diamond in the rough. But adapting it live-action would be awesome. And like every other great Marvel Studios film they can cherry pick the best parts and use what they want.
There were rumors that said Hulk was going to get shot off into space at the end of the last Avengers movie, setting up a solo Hulk film that would adapt Planet Hulk leading to Hulk coming back to Earth and being the big bad in the third big team-up flick. Those rumors didn’t pan out but at least we get to see Gladiator Hulk.
But how does it turn into a buddy flick? Another tidbit states that Thor is on the hunt for a powerful weapon to help prevent Ragnarok – or the Twilight of the Gods which will end Asgard and kill all in that realm.
Will Hulk and Thor team-up to look for the weapon? Or is Thor bringing the weapon to Asgard in the form a giant green rage monster? Is this the closest we get to a solo Hulk film until the start of the next decade? We’ll find out when Thor: Ragnarok smashes into theaters July 28, 2017.
