Helen Mirren is many things. She is an accomplished dramatic actress, a Triple Crown winner (Oscar, Tony and Emmy) and a badass action star (as her roles in the RED films have shown) – and she shows no sign of slowing down her in the action department as she recently said she’s going to rev her engine in the upcoming Fast and Furious 8.

The actress recently spoke with Elle Magazine and dropped the bombshell news herself:

I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8. I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, “I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.” But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.

Not too long ago she expressed her love of the Fast series and it’s muscular leading man / producer Vin Diesel. And seeing as how these films have been magnets for just about every kind of movie star imaginable it would seem it was only a matter of time before Mirren wound up in one the upcoming installments.

She’s already proven she can handle herself in the action department, as RED and RED 2 proved. She even had an awesome driving sequence with Lee Byung-hun where the lady spun out in incredible fashion while the martial arts superstar dispatched a multitude of villains by shooting out the windows of the drifting vehicle.

It’s not known whether she’ll have a substantial role or just a cameo at this point. I’d love it if she was at one of the illegal drag races where drivers compete for pink slips and she schools some young up-and-comers as to who rules the road.

We’ll find out for sure just where Mirren winds up when Fast and Furious 8 races into theaters April 14, 2017.
