The sequel to the averagely performing Pacific Rim, looked as it may be cancelled at one point, with its ever fluctuating release date, creator and director of the first film, Guillermo del Toro, stepped out of the director’s chair to write and produce. The title, Maelstrom, has been rumoured for some time now, and it’s entirely possible that it could change again (especially with a production that’s been in flux for a while).

The sequel’s story well under wraps, with so little known we assume that we’ll see the massive Jaegers fighting of the earth invading, Kaiju again. John Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba’s, Stacker Pentecost, alongside up and coming female lead, Cailee Spaeny. Scott Eastwood (Fury), Adria Arjona (Emerald City), Tian Jing (Special ID) and Levi Meaden (The 100) are all set to star in the film, which is set for release on February 23rd 2018!

Stay tuned for more updates!
