Cate Blanchett is set to re-team with her House With a Clock in Its Walls director Eli Roth for his upcoming adaption of the hit video game franchise Borderlands. Blanchett will star as Lilith, a siren and legendary thief equipped with magical skills according to THR.
Borderlands was originally a 2009 open world action role-playing first-person shooter video game released that centers on a group of four vault-hunters who travel to a distant planet to hunt down an alien vault.
This will be the first film from Eli Roth since 2018 when he released The House with a Clock in Its Walls and Death Wish Starring Bruce Willis .
Blanchett meanwhile has a full dance card as she’s also set to work with Lost City of Z director James Gray for Armageddon Times and Adam McKay’s Don’t look up.
A top talent director/star combo like Blanchett and Roth make this a must see and could transcend the typical video game adaptation.
Have you played Borderlands? What do you most want to see from the video game realized on the big screen?
