Rob Zombie Set to Film New Horror Movie ’31’

Rob Zombie, the master of Halloween, has decided to begin what he hopes is a new franchise with his latest horror offering that is simply titled 31.

The basic plot revolves around five carnival workers who are kidnapped the day before Halloween. They wake up in a compound known as Murder World where they must survive a game known only as “31.” The game involves homicidal maniacs dressed as clowns who are set loose to hunt and murder the carnies.

Zombie recently completed a 90-day crowdfunding campaign to get financing for the film, according to Variety. The plan right now is for production to begin in February of 2015. It can only be assumed that Zombie is looking for a late October release date.

Rob Zombie’s movies are very polarizing. It seems you either really love them or really dislike them. I’m in the pro-Zombie camp. While I feel House Of 1000 Corpses and Lords Of Salem weren’t his strongest efforts I did enjoy his Halloween remake films. And The Devils’ Rejects is one of my all-time favorites. If you ever get the chance to watch the making-of documentary for TDR you’ll see that Zombie puts an amazing amount of effort into creating the world that his films inhabit.

Zombie had originally said that he found inspiration for the film by learning that more people go missing and are never seen again on the popular October holiday than any other day of the year. That and he also feels creepy clowns work in almost any horror movie.
