If you’re like me you’re anxiously awaiting Netflix’s Bill Murray Christmas special, A Very Murray Christmas, featuring an all-star cast and directed by Sophia Coppola. The two’s previous pairing, Lost in Translation, earned each of them Academy Award nominations and judging by the trailer, there should be a new category added for Christmas specials.

Even better than the Christmas special (anyone can make one of those, right?) Murray has teamed up with Phoenix (as well as Jason Schwartzman, Paul Schaffer and Buster Poindexter) for a new Christmas song titled Alone on Christmas Day!
That’s right, in the year of our lord 2015 and each Christmas going forward we will have a Bill Murray Christmas song to spin as we wrap presents and drink excessively in order to deal with our extended families. This isn’t as crazy as it might sound, as Coppola is married to Thomas Mars, lead singer of Phoenix.
Modern Vinyl reports that the new song is set to be released in record stores on 7” vinyl December 4th, the same day that Netflix unleashes their Christmas special featuring Jenny Lewis, George Clooney, Amy Poehler, Michael Cera, Miley Cyrus, Chris Rock, Jason Schwartzman, and Maya Rudolph.
